This was the most stressful experience ever especially since my wedding was a destination wedding! From being lied too by the manager and experiencing horrible customer service by both the manager and alterations lady. I will never come back to this place again. I have 4 sisters and a lot of girlfriends who are not married yet that I will never ever recommend this place too. NOT FOR ANYONE!!!!

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY REASON..... IT'S NOT WORTH IT! How is it acceptable to order a dress in October and not get it until july? And to top it off my "wear date" was July 4th and they didn't have my dress in the store until July 2nd!! What about alterations and adjustments? The weeks leading up to this I was unable to speak to anyone who could tell me when or where my dress was. Every time I called, even during business hours I was told only a manager could look up that info so I would leave a message and was told that the manager would contact me the next day. I was never called back. So finally I called until the store answered and was told the manager was on another call so I decided I would wait. 20 minutes later I'm still on hold so I asked my fiance to call the store and ask for the manager while I'm still on hold, the receptionist then tells him that she is meeting with a bride. When he tells her that I am on their other line waiting to speak with the manager she then tells him she didn't know I was wanting or waiting to speak with the manager. Their customer service skills are completely absent. It is not ok to get a dress in 2 days before the day you are supposed to wear it. DO NOT LET ANY FRIENDS OR FAMILY GO HERE FOR ANY REASON.

SAVE YOUR SELF AND OTHERS THE STRESS THESE UNFORGIVING PEOPLE WILL CAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GO TO THIS HOUSE OF BRIDES IN SCHAUMBURG!!!!! They are horrible, not only do you pay top dollar for the dress, I received a second dress that looked like it was a sample from the floor! Seams were coming apart, holes where thread should be was in the front! I had no time for them to order me a 3rd dress since the first one came with stains all over it! They are not BBB Accredited as they show in the store! Please save yourself and do not even go here!

This place is awful!!! Service is terrible, the people that work there are complete idiots!!! They have a ton of dresses, but it isn't worth the headache. I have personally been there 3 times with my bridesmaids trying on dresses for them and they STILL haven't gotten the order correct. Wrong color, different styles for the wrong girls, not even the prices are correct. They can't get it together over there!! I have ordered dresses through them before for friends weddings and they came in wrong. Should have learned my lesson. Shame on me!!! This place needs to be called "House of People who will F Up Your Wedding" . Ready to strangle someone.

My story with House of Brides is a lengthy one from what you can see below. I’ve made a mission to try to help stop other people from making the mistake my bridal party did. I’ve been keeping up with their Facebook page, commenting on other girls’ posts about how late their dresses are & giving them my story. Turns out that the House of Brides has a horrible social media team who decided to delete my comments and block me from posting instead of simply refunding the money for altering and ruining my bridesmaid dress. This store significantly brought unneeded stress and guilt to my best friend’s wedding – something she, nor any girl deserve.

I am going to apologize with the lengthy novel, but to get our entire story straight, I wanted to be detailed.



The link has the full story but this sums up my experience with this awful store:



In brief, we waited over four months for our dresses, when they did come in (under 3 weeks til the wedding), my dress alterations were so awful I took it after the second fitting to another tailor who told me that my hem was uneven and the only way to fix it was going to make my floor length gown too short. I was back and forth with their Facebook account as well as the manager at the store seeking my $95 refund for my alterations. After numerous discussions and emails the call me THE DAY of the wedding to give me my refund – then called me hours later to change it to a partial refund.



Please, please understand that it’s not simply my experience, but all the bridal party. Most dresses weren’t altered properly and more than one of us took it somewhere else.



Since then, the House of Brides has blocked me from posting on their Facebook page as well as deleting all my comments. Their page is filled with questions of panic that dresses aren’t coming in, or they’re not getting service they desire.

I would not wish this place upon any bride. Staff was unfriendly from the moment i booked an appointment on the phone until i walked out the door. i came in with two dresses from their website with hopes of trying them on. the consultant was hesitant to even try to find them, then eventually said they didn't have them and didn't offer any suggestions for anything similar even after i asked her. Consultant was unenthusiastic and left me standing in a dress for a long time without letting me know she was leaving me to take on another bride. The sample dresses were dirty and unbagged and in disrepair. they only carry sample size 10-12 so if you are petite don't even bother, its nearly impossible to see what you will look like in a dress that large. After a struggle just to try on a few dresses she shoved me to the tuxedo department without even saying goodbye or thank you to a pushy salesperson even though I hadn't even found a dress! I had to excuse myself from men's salesperson abruptly after he didn't even hesitate to ask my name or what my wedding was like before he started his sales pitch. I went across the street to David's Bridal with low expectations of the bridal experience and was blown away by how helpful and amazing they were. found my dream dress with a consultant who was knowledgeable and most importantly fun.

No rating for House of Brides. If I could give them a minus number for a rating I would. I am the mother of the groom. The wedding is Saturday 10-6-12 and we did not receive the dresses until Tuesday 10-2-12. That means 4 days to alter the dresses. Thank goodness the bride found a seamstress

(that used to work at HOB) who would do the alterations in a hurry.



We went in May to look at bridesmaid dresses. Found what we wanted. Floor assistant told us that we had until the beginning of June to order for dresses to come in September. What anyone failed to tell us was the dresses were then ordered as "expedited" and would not come in until 1 to 2 weeks before the wedding. Of course, the bride did not know this and started panicking.



Debbie, the manager of the ordering department, had no compassion and did not care that the bride was upset. I called her myself, numerous times. I even called the manufacturer in Texas to see if my plea (for help) would speed things at all. Obviously the manufacturer, although very nice, would not help in any way as HOB was the driving force. Two calls to the manager of the store, Chris, were never returned.



The woman who did our alterations said HOB does not pay it's bills on time and the manufacturers have no other recourse than to hold the dresses "hostage". She left HOB because she could no longer stand to see brides so disappointed. Therefore, this is their (HOB)common practice. That is not the way to run a business......my husband runs his family business and I know what he goes through to make sure his customers are happy.



Do your research find the dresses you want but do not buy them from the House of Brides....you will regret it.....

**** Please avoid going to House of Brides in Schaumburg, I want ever daughter to have the best

wedding experience****

Before going to House of Brides my daughter read the reviews and BBB rating and majority of them were bad and had low rating on BBB. My daughter assured herself that she will be careful and order the dress a head of time (lesson learned listen to reviews).

My daughter's wedding is on 09/22/12. She was measured for her wedding dress on 9/16/11 and she ordered her dress that same day, after many phone calls and unreturned calls she was finally able to determine when her dress was coming in. She was verbally promised by Joanne (consultant) the dress will be in April, but after speaking with Debbie, the ordering clerk, my daughter was told that the dress won't arrive until 1 month before the wedding (August 2012). Debbie also said that Joanne should of never promised us that we would get the dress in April. We need the dress sooner than that. After many phones and voicemails later my daughters dress had finally arrived, but did not fit at all... The staff had insisted that she had gained weight (how rude to jump to assumptions), they had remeasured her and all of her measurements were the SAME after much debating they had agreed to fix the dress, but only where it didn't fit (the hips). They basically admitted that the "manufacturer" had screwed up, my daughter scheduled an appointment with the seamstress, and the seamstress had taken the dress out, but it still did not fit. She had to make another appointment to have it refitted and adjusted and the seamstress said that she would have to add fabric to the dress. At this point I refused to have fabric added because it would ruin the style of the dress (whole dress is sequenced), the seamstress then told my daughter that she needed to loose weight in order to wear the dress (rude again). All Chris kept saying is that all sales are final, what a joke. If the company makes a mistake that voids the final sale...con't

I gave them 1 at least theyre answering the calls but OMG! when they talked to you theyre in a hurry to hang up the phone, doesnt seem interested in servicing you, doesnt have knowledge of what their product is...whew, mess up my day.

All the reviews on here are an accurate description of the type of HORRIBLE service you will get from House of Garbage!!! I should have listened to these reviews, but instead I took my chances and hoped that they would treat my friend and I better - BIG MISTAKE!!! PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!!! My friend (bride) and I found my bridesmaid dress there - which we had to find ourselves because of the lack and horrible customer service. EVERY sales person, receptionist, etc. went out of their way to be EXTREMELY rude. Then, the fitting was horrible! She told me I was between 3 or 4 sizes and I should just pick one! So I ordered my dress in early March 2010 and after MANY months was told that today July 9, 2010 my dress has FINALLY arrived!!!! Are you kidding me!?!?!? And this is after NUMEROUS unanswered voice mails, unreturned calls, and inquiries!!!!! They have left me with less than a week for alterations - even though I made it very clear that I needed my dress in June - for this very reason! They did not offer any type of apology or reason for my dress being so late. A few of the other bridesmaids did not want to take their chances after reading the reviews and went with a different vendor (SMART) and they received their dresses in less than a month!!!! Do as they did and STAY AWAY from this TERRIBLE establishment!

Brides to be to yourself a big favor and DO NOT USE HOUSE OF BRIDES. The consultants don't have clue how to measure girls for dresses. They measured my daughter a perfect 10 and ordered her a 10 not taking into conderation she is 16 and still growing. According to the After Six Size Chart and my daughters measurements they should have ordered her a 12. When the dress came in it lacked 4 inches zipping up. When I called the consultant she said there was nothing she could do due the no return policy, re-measured my daughter and told her she must have gained weight. She only measured 1in more so why is the dress lacking 4 inches. She sent us over to the seamstress and all she said was come back in April and it will be 100.00. Never even asked her to try on the dress to make sure it can be made bigger. It took the manager 4 days to call me back after leaving numerous messages...only to find out I still have to pay for the alterations. Had they ordered her a 12 it fit perfectly. They are so extremely rude, unorganized. Don't do it brides or you'll regret it.

I had a great experience with House of Brides in Schaumburg. I worked with a woman named Helen, who was very helpful. Got my dress and the bridesmaid dresses there. Everything was done on time and exactly the way it wanted it. The only advice I have is to be aware of the alteration prices. They can range from $100 to over $400 depending on the kind of dress you have. That's in addition to the price of your dress. But the alterations department does some great work! My dress was perfect.

Terrible Service and Bitchy Receptionists

I had an appointment on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the place seemed to have one sales associate for the entire store. This place claims to be the biggest wedding store in the world so its rediculous business practice to have so little help. Luckily my friend was there to help me put on the gowns because the sales associate was nowhere to be found.

house of mean sales ladies and filthy sample dresses

you may want to go to house of brides simply because you want a dress under 1000 dollars. if that's the case i would just suggest going to davids bridal or even a sample sale where you are likely to get better service. we went during a slow time we were practically the only people there but our attendant was sour and preoccupied the whole time even though my sweet little sister (the bride) is the farthest thing from demanding or snobbish. the dressing rooms were dirty as were the sample dresses. i would not recommend this place. they did nothing to make my sister feel special or pretty. it's already hard to feel excited and pretty when your a size four trying on a size fourteen dress, which seems to be about the only size they carry. that day we also went to brides by demetrios which was a completely different atmosphere. i would go there instead for sure.
