Established in 1969, Walden House is a nonprofit center that specializes in behavioral health services. It offers treatment for more than 3,500 men, women and children. The center engages, heals, teaches and trains people with alcohol and drug addictions. Its training institute offers programs in dialectical behavior therapy, tobacco cessation education, HIV prevention, case management and treatment planning. The institute also develops manualized client curriculum in relapse prevention and anger management and is approved by the American Psychological Association. Its adult services include residential care, crisis stabilization, community housing and day treatment. Located in San Francisco, Walden House employs more than 400 personnel. It also offers several publications, including medical journals and newsletters.
