We went to Afrah for a rehearsal dinner so there were a bunch of us. The food was very good! Everything was served family style because of our large group.

Afrah has solid, consistent Lebanese/Arabic food. Of all the Middle Eastern restaurants I have tried in the US, Afrah's food reminds me the most of the flavors that I get overseas.

My favorite things to get at Afrah are the Akkawi cheese pies, falafel, hummus, chicken shawarma, and sujuk sandwich (Arabic sausage). All of the grilled kabobs, particularly the lamb shish kabob, are excellent. I think a lot of that has to do with their spices, but the meat they use is also higher quality than what you would typically find.

One of the best things at Afrah is their lunch buffet, which has a good sampling of many of their popular items. This includes a few of the more traditional, home-cooked dishes that my mom or grandma used to make (such as stuffed squash). If you have never been to Afrah or had Lebanese food, I would highly recommend you try their buffet first to give you an idea of their food (my non-Arab friends are always impressed when I take them to the buffet). The buffet is very reasonably priced at around $12, considering the quality of food and considering the fact that a filling meal at a fast-food restaurant can easily cost around $8 or more. I would much rather pay a few dollars extra and get something tastier and probably healthier as well. It's too bad the lunch buffet is only available on weekdays though.

I am not big on desserts and sweets, but their gelato is excellent (I think it's made in-house, not sure). Their baklava and other Arabic sweets are also tasty and not overly sweet.

Overall, Afrah's food is great, prices are reasonable, and I have had good experiences with their service (although it would be nice if they deliver). The atmosphere is also nice and it is definitely family-friendly. Their new building has much more space, and if you smoke hookah their new patio is a good place to relax and is protected from the weather.
