Good food, don't be in a hurry

We have been here 3 times in the past 4 years. Today was the best experience so far. Nice customer service over the phone. No waiting when we got there. We arrived at 12:30pm on a Sunday and were the only customers. There were about 22 when we left.

Chef was good. Server was really nice. Don't be in a hurry, and enjoy some good Japanese food.

Soup was fantastic, salad is not good in our opinion. Free sherbet for dessert.

They have a lunch menu and prices are not bad. Spring for the fried rice, it is amazing, especially with the duck sauce.

This is our favorite restaurant!! We go here all the time!! Over look the wait! It's worth it because the food is absolutely fantastic!! The portion sizes are huge! I've been to lots of Japanese Steakhouses and this is by far the best!!

Good Food / Be Ready To Wait

This style of restaurant takes a little longer to get your chef and food than a typical restaurant. My wife and I have been to four other restaurants of this style. The food was really good here but the service was by far the worst we have received ever. I would definitely recommend a different option then this place. We arrived at this restaurant on Friday night February 15, 2013 At 6:45 PM. We were told that the wait time would be forty-five minutes. We were seated at our table/Grill at 7:45 PM. They brought out drinks , soup, salad and took our orders in a timely fashion. Then we waited for a really long time for our chef to come. After waiting one hour and 15 minutes four people that were seated at the same Grill with us got up and left at 9 pm. At about 9:05 I got up and went to try to talk to a manager to ask for a chef to come and cook our food. We finally got a chef at 9:15. That means we were seated at our grill for a hour and a half before a chef came. There was no manager at the restaurant on a Friday night. So a hostess comes after calling the manager and said that they want to offer us a free appetizer for waiting so long. We said we were thinking of money off our ticket. So in a few minutes she comes back and says they're going to give us 20% off. The chef did a good job and did many tricks. My wife and I did not really care for his sexual jokes. When I received my ticket at almost 10 PM I was irritated with only 20% off. I complained and someone comes out and does not apologize. Instead they talk about what food cost them because I was asking for more than 20% off. I then told them to forget it and just paid my ticket. In my opinion for the poor customer service that we received we should've received about 50% off. I am a business owner and keeping customers happy is of upmost importance in my business practice. Not the case here.

I just moved here from Japan, so I'm very critical. The teppanyaki (or hibachi-- it's called different things here) left alot to be desired. I didn't care for it, and for all of the showmanship, the taste was NOTHING like the authentic Japanese style. It was just kind of greasy and generic-tasting. That being said, the sushi was SURPRISINGLY GOOD. It doesn't quite stand up to the real, fresh thing, but for the middle of Oklahoma, it more than satisfies. I have come back twice for the sushi, and this will be my spot until I find something better. I've eaten at Gaijin & Sake in Norman, and this place is better than both, in my opinion.

this place was awesome, great food, great atmosphere. The steak and shrimp and fried rice was unbelievable. The japanese food is exactly like my grandmother made when I was young. You must check this place out. Also try the shrimp sauce

This is not what quality sushi tastes like! It was terrible and I will never go back. It was a waste of a night out with my hubby. The decor looks cheap and I found myself wondering if it was an old Taste of China restaurant. I will stick to Musashis on N. Western.

Yamato has the best sushi in town and for the best prices. If this was all that counted, I would give them 5 stars. It is still new and really needs to hire more staff (they still have a 'now hiring' sign in the window... anyone need a job?). The last time I went, the sushi chef both sat and waited on us. Because of this, the service is pretty slow. However, the quality far outweighs the wait. And the decor is amazing- check out the statue in the bathroom!
