My dad towed his car here, pretty much already knowing the tranny went out, and this place charged $65.oo to confirm it!!!I could see if they hooked it up to diagnose it, or spent alot of time looking into it, its pretty simple to figure that out. i could see charging 20 or even 40, for 10 plus min...but 65? needless to say we junked it!! because they wanted also too much to fix!!!!
I should have written this when I saw the owner of Lowry Repair on the news complaining about negative comments online and how it has unfairly reflected on his business. Well it's all true! I have taken my car to Lowry repair several times for fairly major work- I replace a cv joint and a clutch with him. It was very expensive but I figured the shop was close and in the neighborhood and it was worth. A friend recommended to me a mechanic shop across town on Lake st when she heard how much I was paying. I brought my car there to repair a second cv joint and the new shop charged me half of what Lowry Repair charged. Three years later my clutch went out again on my car- when I brought it to the Lake St mechanic he showed me the shoddy work that Lowry repair did and this was the reason the clutch had to be replaced again. Luckily my new mechanic is charging me HALF of what Lowry charged me. As a female I know I am susceptible to getting ripped off but knowledge is empowerment! Stay away!!
