      Very Impressed!

      I switched my kids to Dr.Ward after going to another office that was very impersonal. I absolutely love the entire staff here! Every one is super friendly and goes out of their way to make the kids feel comfortable. The waiting room is fairly spacious and has lots of windows. There are also several arcade/Nintendo type games to keep the kids occupied and Large Legos for the toddlers. Parents are welcome to come back with their kids if need be. The kids also get a big prize bag after their visit. My kids actually look forward to going to this dentist.

      This was the second time i hav...

      This was the second time i have seen this dentist. This time my child was in pain. Games in the waiting area and chairs low to the ground do not make you a pediatric dentist. This dentist made little to no effort to make my 2 yo comfortable. He did not explain what he was going to do, show him the instrument, which happened to be a mirror, or say one calming or soothing word. He was not friendly. The entire reason I chose a pediatric dentist was to make my child's experience easier. I will be seeing a different dentist next time.

      Dr. Ward was born and raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He currently resides in Fayetteville with his wife Jenny, son Blake, and daughter Aubrey. He loves to spend time with his family, hunt, fish, travel and to cheer for the Razorbacks. Dr. Ward is a graduate of Arkansas Tech University and received his doctorate of dental surgery in 2003 from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans. After dental school he completed a two year residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Tennessee at Memphis. Dr. Ward had the opportunity to work at Children's Hospital in New Orleans, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis. Dr. Ward takes an active role in meeting and exceeding the standards of his profession. He is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association. He continues to attend pediatric education seminars each year to keep him in the forefront of Pediatric Dentistry.

        The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children visit the dentist by age one. Your child's first visit to the dental office needs to be a positive experience. The pediatric dental office environment is geared directly to making your child feel comfortable. Also, in case a child needs restorative care, the pediatric dentist is highly trained in techniques so that treatment can be accomplished safely and quickly with minimal emotional stress to your child.At your child's first visit, the main emphasis will be on teaching you how best to take care of your child's teeth. Before the teeth come in, a soft cloth can be used to massage the gums and then after the teeth appear, a soft infant tooth brush and water can be used to brush the teeth. Begin brushing your child's teeth as soon as they appear. Do not use fluoridated toothpaste until your child is able to successfully spit out the toothpaste everytime (usually around 3 years old).If your child is apprehe nsive about the first visit, we allow a complimentary walk-through first visit where the child can come to the office and observe what goes on.A positive first visit is the first step to prevention of dental disease, early intervention of problems and development of trust in the dental professionals.We look forward to meeting you at your first visit!
