He had chance to re-locate but decided to stay local to look for franchise opportunities. While attending a tradeshow in Las Vegas doing research, a co-worker that attended with him had a stroke. They needed a caregiver and a current competitor was hired. This chain of events inspired David to get his footprint in the non-medical home care industry. It only seemed natural due to Brenda’s background as a nurse in long term care. She started out part-time while still maintaining her full-time nursing position but after a year the business has grown so much that she came in as CEO and dedicated all of her efforts to “Home Instead”. Together they have built the largest, non-medical care company in the area. This is not surprising if you consider their background partnered with the largest franchiser of its type in the United States. To ensure the highest quality service they have partnered with J.D. Power and Associates. This outside, 3rd party company routinely surveys caregivers and clients alike.



To continue their fast-paced growth strategy, David looks to the retirement community for referrals since they had a natural synergy with places like this. They are literally the next step in independent living by supplementing the care given by local facilities like Bethany Lutheran Village, St. Leonard’s and Sterling House.
