I love Haruki's place I've been going there for over 11 years now with my husband and I've never been disappointed. Food is very good, Service is good although sometimes I will admit it can be a bit slow. Someone stated that it seemed "dirty" that's not true at all. I would recommend this place to everyone, they even have a childrens menu for the little ones not quite ready to start eating sushi.

This place is highly rated, though it astounds me to know why.First, the restaurant itself is subpar. The interior looks like it could be any cuisine. It just felt dirty. Now this could be forgiven had the food and service been exceptional, but it was not.Instead, service was abysmal. I waited too long for drinks, my appetizer which I ordered with the drink came 13 minutes after the drinks (20 minutes in total). I then was never offered a refill, instead having to ask for it despite my glass being empty. The food was horrid. We ordered Gyoza, which were floating in soy sauce. This is bad for a panfried dish, especially in a salty liquid that just leeched into the meal. Then we had a bowl of Udon, which tasted like mass-produced noodles in a broth which should not have been served. Then our main dish was small and somewhat unappetizing. All of this cost more than it should have and left me and my guest still hungry and upset.Do not eat here.

This restaurant always has hig...

This restaurant always has high marks and top recommendations.

It does not deserve it.

For starters, the decor could easily be for any Asian restaurant, or could be changed to accommodate a buffet. The wait staff were deficient in operations, and the bathrooms were... ugh. Any of this could be forgiven had the food been as delicious as magazines and online reviews would say. It was not.

For starters, this reviewer has had some of the best Japanese food on this continent. This quality is replicated in restaurants in New England, so Haruki has no excuse. The opening course was gyoza, or dumplings. This dish is not difficult to prepare and is usually delicious. The chefs ruined the dish by floating the morsels in a lake of soy sauce, which made the fried dumplings salty and soggy. Not good eats. This was followed by a lackluster bowl of Udon Noodles, a thick rice noodle in a savory broth. The noodles tasted like prepackaged soup mixes that come in similar packages to ramen floating in a broth that should not have been served. The main course was inexcusable for the price, with a traditional Japanese bento-boxed lunch being offered for dinner. The price, over what was delivered, with baby portions of sub par food barely seasoned. I had never seen a California-roll so small, not even at Asian-themed buffets. The sashimi was good, but then how hard is it to pick out fresh fish and cut it?

I do not recommend Haruki to anyone looking for authentic Japanese food. If you’ve never enjoyed a delicious traditional or modern Japanese dish, then perhaps this hovel would be for you, but if you’re looking for taste Rhode Island and Massachusetts there are better places to enjoy.
