I took my bird to My Zoo yesterday, and had an absolutely terrible experience. Never having visited this vet before, I called in advance, and asked specifically what it would cost to have her beak and wings trimmed. On the phone, I was told $45-$50, based on the size of the bird. This seemed a bit high (Noah's Ark only charges $30), but our normal vet didn't have an opening this week, so I agreed. They asked if it would be my first visit, I said yes, and she agreed that $45 was likely the price.

At the visit, I paid the $45, and met with the vet. Just as they were about to start, I was informed that there would be an ADDITIONAL $50 charge for an "assessment," since I hadn't been to My Zoo previously. I attempted to decline, stating that on the phone I was only told about the $45 I had already paid, but was told it wasn't optional. The "assessment" included the vet simply asking if my bird was healthy.

I wasn't informed at any point of the extra $50 fee until the appointment was already taking place, and I had already paid upfront the $45. In the end, a 5 minute appointment for simply trimming a small bird's beak and wings cost $95 - over 3 times what we've paid at other clinics for the exact same thing.

When first arriving, I liked the idea of returning to My Zoo, since it is closer to where I live. However, after blatantly being lied to about price, and trapped in a situation where I couldn't leave without losing the initial cost, I will never return again.
