will never go anywhere else for a brazilian wax! Oksana is amazing!Sure, the place is a little sketchy with the tiny elevator and the swarthy rude receptionist, but I love that I can be in and out within 1/2 an hour with very little pain!

I had my very first wax at Newbury Day Spa with Oksana and she was the best! Despite other reviews I read, she is very friendly, talkative and does not reuse sticks in the wax! She was also very gentle with the waxing, as I told her I have very sensitive skin. I had a little redness after, but she suggested I use baby powder and witch hazel and it worked wonderfully. I went back a second time and there was less redness after the wax. She didn't miss a spot! She provided a lot of information and was very knowledgable and competent about waxing and I am definitely booking an appointment with her before my vacation! *Side note: The wax used is HOT, and heat kills most bacteria, like when you boil water, it kills harmful bacteria. Most salons use the same wax all day because if they didn't, it would be too gosh darn expensive and they'd charge you more, highly recommended

Please do not spend money at this spa! This is the first review I've ever written. Went for a full day package and am 38 weeks pregnant. The place was incredibly unclean - no evidence of sanitization anywhere (think reused cuticle clippers and facial extraction tools), old pilly towels and robes (mother-in law found a pubic hair in her robe!), slippers dirty so wore my socks with them, unclean chairs and bathroom - just to give a few examples. The people were nice, however I don't think certified in anything they did - not an understanding of pregnancy spa treatments. I could have done a better mani/pedi, facial, and body scrub at my house. I can't believe this place is open for business and on Newbury Street, nonetheless. I took a long, hot shower as soon as I got home, that's how dirty I felt after spending over $400 for a full day spa experience with a cold lunch. I'm planning on calling the board of health or whatever agency that monitors spas.
